The Arewa way of dressing is still extraordinary and amazing. An Arewa man can be easily identified right after looking at his dress, which is either Kaftan, Normal shirt and trouser with cap, or with Babba riga. They are usually wide with ventilation openings. Throughoutf the Middle Ages, the Arewa people were known for their cloth weaving and dyeing, leather sandals, cotton products, leatherworking, and other imports to West Africa and North Africa. Hausa leather was easily identified by their indigo blue clothing and symbols. They were skilled at tie-dyeing, and this technique has been used for centuries. The tie-dye garments are then richly embroidered in traditional patterns.

As the Hausa tribe is one of the three prominent ethnic groups in Nigeria. It is also considered one of the largest tribes in West Africa. Arewa are outstanding in different aspects of their culture. They have several practices that are exclusively found among them. The greatest population of the Hausas are found in north-western Nigeria. Cities occupied by them include sokoto, Zamfara, Kano, Katsina, Bauchi, Makurdi, Lafia, Kebbi etc. 


The Babban riga, or malum-malumis, is usually decorated with intricate embroidery and worn on special religious or ceremonial occasions such as the two Islamic Eid festivals, weddings, funerals, or attending Friday prayer at the mosque. It has become the formal attire of many West African countries. Older robes are family heirlooms passed down from father to son and are worn as status symbols.

Babban riga consists of three pieces of clothing: tie-up trousers that narrow towards the ankles, a long-sleeved shirt, and a wide, open-stitched sleeveless gown worn over these. The three pieces are mostly the same color. It's made of cotton and abundantly embroidered with traditional patterns. There is a specific protocol for wearing the Babban riga, which is primarily in place to keep the over-gown above the ankles at all times in accordance with Islamic traditions of avoiding impurity. This can include folding the open sleeves of the Babban riga over one's shoulders, normally done while walking or before sitting down, to ensure the over-gown does not rub against the ground, or by folding or wrapping each side over the other with the hand, narrowing the gown's space toward the ankles


The Hula is a traditional headdress worn by Hausa and Fulani peoples in West Africa, especially in Nigeria, Niger, and Ghana. The cap is made of handwoven fabric, typically cotton or wool, and is known for its unique appearance and intricate embroidery. A round or oval cap with a flat top and a narrow brim is typical. The embroidery is done with a special stitching technique known as tafetta or fota, which involves weaving together two or more threads of different colors to create a pattern.

The Hula has gained popularity outside of Nigeria and West Africa. People all over the world wear it as a fashion accessory, especially those who appreciate traditional African clothing and accessories. At cultural events, weddings, and other special occasions, the cap is frequently worn.  The intricate embroidery of the Hula is highly valued throughout West Africa. The Hausa people are credited with introducing this type of embroidered cap to Nigeria and spreading it throughout West Africa. As a result, it is sometimes referred to as the Hausa cap.


Male shoes are highly decorated and colorful shoes adorned with feathers or other exquisite animals. Arewa men wear all sorts of shoes. Some wear fancy shoes for special occasions, like parties or ceremonies. Other Arewa people wear strong boots for tough work. There are also comfy sneakers that some Arewa men like to wear casually, the shoes can be made from different materials, like leather most of the shoes that arewa people wear are hand made, made by their friends or families, there are some shoes that are made for the royal family, they are covered and style in very amazing and attractive way and in different colors of their cloth, They only wear the cloth that is thesame color with their shoes.

The Arewa royal attire is exquisite in every sense of the words, the royal attires they put are the part which makes the Royal people unique, which are mostly rare and expensive or in some certain cases forbidden to the general populace. The designs are so spectacular that they make people accord them with special respect. Such clothing are mostly worn by the king, his sons and relatives and other commoners living in the palace. And they are also worn during festive occasions such as festivals and ceremonies like the durbar, Eid festival or welcoming guests or simply day to day activities. The dress include Babbar Riga which is a set of three pices of highly embroided garment that is worn after putting a normal shirt and trouser, the normal shirt is called Yar ciki which is aa long-sleeved shirt that is worn with the babbar riga then follow by Alkyabba or Alkebba which is refered to as a big cloak, then a Rawani which is a distinctive form of turban worn on the head. It could either be Rawani harsa or Rawani dan kura, the rawani is made with Hula that could be either Kube cap or mostly Dara. Then there is Sandar girma that us the staff of office which symbolises the royal authority. 


The kaftan is the most popular and widely worn traditional native attire for men throughout Arewa or Hausaland. It is a long, loose fitting robe that is worn over a shirt and trousers. It is a traditional outfit that has been modernized to suit contemporary fashion trends, the attire is so common in the region that it is by standard or the most common dress that the male population uses, from different politicians and business leaders to different celebrities, this dress is very old it the main cloth of Arewa people, you can see it with children even from 5 years of age,  a full Kaftan dress include wearing of a long sleeve shirt, a trouser, Hula (cap), shoes and other accessories, like either adding a spec glass or a wrists watch. The Kaftan always look good in any person wearing it not only the Arewa people.


Kufta is a small alkebba which is known as falmaret, it is worn after putting kaftan, the alkebba sewn with a lovely embroidery design is an attire worn or use mostly by the Royal families but nowadays rich people and celebrities are using it, even commoners who are capable of purchasing it are wearing it just to look good and unique. as it is mentioned in a qoute "Fashion is the armor to survive the reality of everyday life".  Arewa people are very good in fashion, they wear what makes them comfortable and what makes them to look very unique.


Nowadays Arewa men do wear jellabiya frequently, these days in Arewa it is hard to pass in an area without seeing some people wearing this cloth. The Jelebeeya which is a traditional, loose-fitting garment that comes in a wide range of vibrant colors. Arewa people usually get this dress when they travel, expecially to saudia(makkah), many people bought it and give to their friends and family as a gift when they come back, some wears it completely with makawuya to look like arabians, some of them wears it for Friday prayers (Jumuat), while some wear it just because it it is very comfortable and flexible. Egyptian farmers, especially those in Greater Cairo, the countryside, Luxor, and Aswan, have a special place in their clothing for the jellabiya, as the jellabiya comes from the Nile Valley
