Nigerian Navy Recruitment 2023/2024

The NN Recruitment 2024 has begins, the application process would then begin with applicants filling out online application forms. Successful applicants are invited to Recruitment Examinations after completing online registration. Those who pass the Recruitment Examinations are then invited for interviews before the final shortlisting of qualified candidates.

Applications are hereby invited from suitably qualified Nigerians for Recruitment into The Nigerian Navy through the Nigerian Navy Basic Training School (NNBTS BATCH 36). I am happy to inform the general public and all potential applicants that the online registration for the Nigerian Navy Basic Training School (NNBTS) Batch 36 recruitment exercise will commence on Tuesday, 2 January, 2024 and close on Friday, 2 February, 2024. The Nigerian Navy can be traced back to the Royal Navy's Marine Department, which was established in 1887 as a quasi-military organization that combined the duties of the current Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), the Nigerian Inland Waterways Authority, and the Nigerian Navy. During the First World War, between 1914 and 1918, elements of the Marine Department participated in military operations against the Germans in Cameroon. However, the colonial administration did not consider it necessary to establish a proper navy, believing that it was the Royal Navy's responsibility to provide naval protection to Nigeria. Furthermore, the Marine Department was deemed adequate to ensure the security of the ports and coastal approaches, as well as to provide harbour services for Royal Navy ships on West Coast.

Following the war, the colonial administration preferred that the Marine Department focus on port-related duties. The formation of NPA was then proposed. The officers of the Marine Department who were members of the Royal Navy Reserve did not abandon the idea of a navy and thus continued to advocate for the establishment of a naval force. In 1956, Mr LL Olakunle, a member of Parliament, succinctly summarized the campaign for the establishment of a navy. He went on to say "If we must have a Nigerian Navy, then we must have something along the pattern of the British Navy".

The colonial administration disbanded the colonial Marine Department in response to increased pressure from our nationalists. Following this action, 250 officers and men from the defunct Marine Department were gathered in April 1956 to form the nucleus of the Nigerian Naval Force (NNF). The force was later renamed the Nigerian Naval Defence Force (NDF). Marine Department officers' efforts eventually resulted in the Colonial Government of Nigeria's policy statement for the establishment of a Naval Defence Force (NDF) contained in Sessional Paper No. 6 of 1956.

GUIDELINES FOR ENTRY INTO NIGERIAN NAVY 2024 FOR NNBTS BATCH 36

The Applicants would then begin their application process by filling online application forms. Below are the Nigerian Navy requirements and application guidelines. After the  completion of the online registration by applicants, those who are successful will be invited for Recruitment Examinations.

APPLICATION PROCESS AND REQUIREMENTS FOR NIGERIA NAVY 2024

1. The applicant must be a certified Nigerian citizen.
2. Applicants for entry categories A5, B1, B2, B3, C1, D1, D7, E2, E3, E4 and F1 must have a high school diploma and by April 30, 2024. Applicants must be between the ages of 18 and 26 by 30 April 2024 for entry categories requiring NCE, Diploma (OND), Registered Nurse/Midwife qualifications, such as categories A1, A2, A3, A4, C2, C3, D2, E5, F2, J, K, and N, as well as categories D3 (Sportsmen and Sportswomen), D5 (Chaplain Assistants, D6 (Imam Assistants), and H (Drivers/Mechanics). 3. Applicants with higher qualifications are required to submit a statement of results.
4.  Applicants are not permitted to be married or have children.
5. Applicants must have no prior criminal convictions from a court of law.
6. Applicants with any of the following medical/physical challenges are not eligible to apply: blindness, deafness, communicable diseases, mental illnesses, stammering, or any physical disability. Applicants with tattoos are also not permitted to apply.
7. Applicants must be 1.69 meters tall for men and 1.65 meters tall for women.
8.  All applicants must include their National Identification Number (NIN) and Bank Verification Number (BVN) in their application.
9. Applicants with educational/professional qualifications that are higher than those listed in paragraph 1 (a-g) should not apply. Applicants are warned that presenting false or forged documents for the Recruitment is a crime.
10. Certificates or qualifications that were not declared, tendered, and accepted during the recruitment process are not acceptable afterward and cannot be tendered for the purpose of changing departments or advancing while already in the Nigerian Navy. Only qualifications obtained in accordance with proper service provisions are accepted while serving in the Nigerian Navy.
11. Applicant's Declaration Form, Parent/Guardian Consent Form, Local Government Area Certification Form, Police Certification Form, and Guarantors Form must be printed and properly completed, endorsed, and presented during the interview.
12. Applicants must bring the following documents to the recruitment centers:
13. Photocopies of the birth certificate or the Age Declaration.
14. Photocopies of credentials, including a copy of the first school leaving certificate/testimonial.
15. The Identification Form must be signed by the Chairman or Secretary of the Applicant's LGA, or by an officer of the rank of Commander and above (or equivalent in the Nigerian Army and Nigerian Air Force), or by a Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) and above from the Applicant's State of Origin.
16. Parent/Guardian Consent Form, duly completed and signed by Applicant's Parent or Guardian.
17. (c) above signed and stamped four (4) passport photographs on the back.
18. Candidates must bring their WAEC, GCE, NECO, and NABTEB scratch cards to the recruitment centers.
19. The application form must be filled out and submitted online.
20. Any applicant suspected or confirmed of impersonating, falsifying, forging, or presenting false document(s) will be disqualified from the Recruitment process and turned over to the appropriate law enforcement agency for prosecution.
21. In due course, the date for the Recruitment Aptitude Test will be posted on the NN portal.
22. Applicants must have one or more of the following educational/professional qualifications:

• West African Senior School Certificate Examination Certificate (no more than two sittings and no more than six years old at the time of application, also applicable to subparagraphs b-e).
• Ordinary Level of the General Certificate of Education.
• NECO stands for National Examination Council.
• NABTEB (National Business and Technical Examinations Board).
• WAEC City and Guilds or London City and Guilds, for example.
• Ordinary National Diploma.
• Any other educational qualification that is equivalent to the ones listed above.
• At the selection interview, applicants must present their primary school leaving certificate.
