Former Governor El-Rufai's son, Bashir El-Rufai, has fiercely attacked the Governor of Kaduna State

Bashir El-Rufai has crossed the red line

Former Governor El-Rufai's son,  Bashir El-Rufai, has fiercely attacked the Governor of Kaduna State, Uba Sani for complaining publicly that his administration is finding it difficult to pay salaries because of the impact of debt servicing on its lean resources.

According to Abu Sani, his  administration inherited $587 million, N85 billion, and 115 contractual liabilities from the administration of former Governor El-Rufai. Did Governor Uba Sani lie? Did he betray El-Rufai by letting the people of Kaduna State know the true situation of things? Is Bashir  El-Rufai a spokesperson for his father on official matters? What is the role of Adekaye, El-Rufai's media aide?

I am saddened by his decision to join issues with his father's successor. That is not his own business. His father is capable of speaking for himself. Uba Sani is his father's friend and his senior. That boundary must be respected.

To accuse Uba Sani of covering up his own incompetence and of surrounding himself with aides who are rewarded for "foolish political reasons" crosses the line. Uba Sani is not his mate. It's culturally offensive for a young man to be publicly insulting his own senior for speaking out about the financial situation of Kaduna State. Did Bashir  El-Rufai expect Uba Sani to pretend that all is well when things are going badly?

Bashir El-Rufai should accept the fact that his father is a politician and is therefore open to public scrutiny. His father not only attacked the late President Umaru Musa Yar'adua, but also publicly celebrated his demise and boasted that all those who fought him were either dead or were disgraced out of office.

But not once did Uba Sani ever personally criticize his predecessor, despite his misgivings about the frightening financial situation of Kaduna State. El-Rufai has enough friends to defend him; it is not the job of his son to be publicly fighting Governor Uba Sani. Former President Trump had uttered unprintable insults against Obama, but his children(Obama) didn't drag themselves into it. I can't imagine former President Buhari's son or daughter coming out publicly to attack President Tinubu for exposing the corrupt and fraudulent activities of Buhari's appointees.

Public office is public trust. You can't sacrifice public interest to advance or protect personal friendship. Public office is based on transparency. Why should Uba Sani hide the truth from the people of Kaduna State? Pretending that all is well when things are going badly is not a sign of wisdom. Briefing your citizens about the financial state of Kaduna State is not an act of betrayal. Uba Sani retained most of El-Rufai's appointees and friends in his government. Governor Uba Sani did nothing wrong for being transparent.
